Born in Washington, D.C., I came to Delaware to attend Delaware State College. I then obtained a masters degree from the University of Maryland and returned to Delaware where I have spent the past 47 years as a teacher, school administrator and enjoying participating in community theater.
I also hold an administrative certificate in education from the University of Delaware as well as a doctorate in Theater Craft from Pacific Western University. I am intrigued by different cultures and languages. I have studied a number of languages and partipicated in a language immersion experience in East Africa.
At Delaware State University, then Delaware State Colletge, I met and married Delores Walker of Wilmington, DE. This September Delores and I celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage. We have three grown children, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
I am currently a visiting professor at Delaware State University where I teach literature, speech, airway science and KiSwahili, an African language.
I have dedicated most of my life to public service in some capacity. I was eleced to the Kent County Levy Court in 1988 and have served continuously since then.
My experience on the Levy Court includes serving as President three times, chairperson for Emergency Services, Parks and Recreation, and currently I serve as the chairperson for the Public Works Committee.
I am confident I have the right leadership experience and attitude to serve the 34th district well.
